Children Need Encouragement, Not Pressure

In developmental football, psychology is just as important as technique.

Often, parents’ desire to see their child succeed unintentionally turns into pressure. Constant instructions from the stands, intense criticism after the match, or excessive focus on the result can negatively affect a child’s confidence and enjoyment of the game.

The development of a young athlete takes time. It includes mistakes, setbacks, experimentation, and gradual improvement. A mistake is not a failure. It is part of the learning process.

When a child feels that their value is not dependent on the result, they compete with freedom. And freedom leads to creativity, courage, and genuine growth.

The role of the parent is crucial:
• To support without giving technical instructions
• To encourage effort, not just the outcome
• To trust the process and the coaching plan

Children need an environment where they feel safe to try, to fail, and to try again.

Success is built through consistent support, not pressure.
